SYNTHETIC ASPECTS OF TRANSPORT ECONOMY AND TRANSPORT VEHICLE PERFORMANCE WITH REFERENCE TO HIGH SPEED MARINE VEHICLES

The transport economy and the technical performance of various kinds of transport vehicles including high speed marine vehicles are discussed. The economical merit for both passenger and cargo transport systems is compared among high speed marine vehicles, conventional ships and aircrafts based on the total cost concept which is composed of the value of time and the fare/freight level. The transport efficiency of various vehicles is examined using the Karman-Gabrielli diagram. The transport efficiency of advanced marine vehicles, i.e. the ACV, hydrofoil craft and hybrid marine vehicle, is also examined and evaluated.
