ON-BOARD SYSTEM FOR MANOEUVRING PLAN

A compact shipboard manoeuvring support system has been developed that can be operated as a desktop computer system for installation on the bridge. The three main functions provided by the system are: to display a birdseye view on screen, indicating the ship's movements; to permit the ship handler to practice manoeuvring by entering rudder and engine position details and to verify his manoeuvring plan by prescribing transit points and the ship's speeds at these points; and retrieving and displaying demanded information from the IMO Manoeuvring Booklet.
