SKINNER MARINE UNIFLOW STEAM ENGINE

It is assumed that the reader is familiar with the general operation of boilers and reciprocating steam engines, and the usual care and maintenance required. The engine has many modifications and improvements not common to the open-frame type marine steam engine, and it is the purpose of this booklet to assist the operators and the repair men to obtain an understanding of the design and construction of this type of engine, and to serve as a guide for best performance, maintenance and adjustment, in the interests of continuity of service, highest fuel economy and smoothest operation. The drawings included give the operator detailed information on the construction and purpose of any parts needing attention. The information covers data on operation, adjustments, clearances, alignment, lubrication, precautions and emergencies. (Note: Many of the drawings and diagrams are not too clear as they did not reproduce well when the copy was made from the original).
