P.T. PRIORITY AND PRODYN

The PRODYN traffic control method has been improved in order to perform bus priority. The modelling takes into account for each priority vehicle the time to reach the stop line at free speed, and the queue in front of it. Those two states are estimated from presence measurements and priority vehicles are taken into account either through the weighting of their delays in the criterion or the switching to unconditional priority. Tests with a simulator on an isolated intersection show that with respect to a classical priority scheme PRODYN reduces private traffic travel time by about 13% for the same quality of service for priority vehicles.
