CARGO STOWAGE AND SECURING
One of the problems associated with the safety of ro/ro ships that causes the most concern is that of cargo stowage and security. This paper reviews the International Maritime Organization's guidelines for the packing of cargo in containers and for securing arrangements for the transport of road vehicles on ro/ro ships. Plans for the development of a new IMO code of safe practice for stowing and securing cargo are outlined.
