This publication discusses the application of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) flexible and rigid pavement performance equations to alternate pavement type selection. Through the correct use of the Rigid and Flexible Pavement Equations, as outlined and demonstrated in this document, and through careful quality control and proper workmanship, good, durable, relatively maintenance-free pavements can be designed for any period of time chosen.
