SIMULATIONS OF PREVOST'S PRESSURE SENSITIVE MODEL. NUMERICAL MODELS IN GEOMECHANICS. NUMOG III. PROCEEDINGS OF THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM HELD AT NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA, 8-11 MAY 1989

The capabilities of prevost's pressure sensitive model in simulating the soil behaviour were investigated in this paper. The model was implemented in a three dimensional stress driven computer program to make predictions. The data base used for comparisons consisted of (1) the results of a series of triaxial tests on a crushed quartz sand, (2) published data on Ottawa sand tested along a simple shear stress path, and (3) cyclic triaxial tests carried out on fuji river sand. The comparisons between the predictions and the experimental data indicated that the shear stress strain behaviour of all three soils was predicted quite well, however, the predictions for the volumetric strains were not always accurate.
