ESPOONLAHDEN LIIKENNETURVALLISUUS. OSARAPORTTI III. SEURANTATUTKIMUS

This study forms the third and last part of a research project in order to develop a methodology for evaluating the traffic safety of a minor urban community. In the first part of the project, the problem locations were identified, and relevant safety measures were suggested. The second part included informing of the results of the first part, and marketing of the suggested measures. The methodology tried was observed to apply fairly well for the identification of problem locations as well as for evaluating the effects of measures implemented. The method produced a lot of such data, which would not have been discovered through conventional use of accident data. The method also offers a new promising tool for giving traffic education in conjunction with several subjects taught at school. (TRRL)
