THEORY AND PRACTICE ON REINFORCED SLOPES WITH STEEL BARS ---PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON THEORY AND PRACTICE OF EARTH REINFORCEMENT, FUKUOKA, KYUSHU, JAPAN, 5-7 OCTOBER 1988
This paper summarizes part of a report entitled "study on reinforcing slopes with steel bars", which was carried out by the laboratory of the Japan highway public corporation (nihon doro kodan) over the last five years. The relation between the theory and the practice of this work is studied through: (1) large scale (full-size) in-situ model test to confirm the effect of the steel bars; (2) a survey of the actual results of existing facilities; and (3) a follow-up survey after construction. The purpose of this study is to propose a design method for reinforcing slopes with steel bars. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 818063.
