USE OF GEOTECHNICAL MAPS IN PLANNING UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTIONS. LARGE ROCK CAVERNS - PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM, HELSINKI, FINLAND, 25-28 AUGUST 1986. VOLUME 2

The city of Helsinki Geotechnical Department has collected geotechnical data since 1955. The most extensive data comprise geotechnical maps, including soil maps, bedrock maps and foundation maps of old buildings, printed to scales of 1:500, 1:2000 and 1:10000. The department maintains public archives containing material on some 200000 drilling points. These data are used, e.g., for city planning and construction purposes and also for building supervision. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 810647. (Author/TRRL)
