WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PRESENT TRAFFIC AND ENERGY QUESTIONS FOR TOWN PLANNING AND BUILDING
WAS BEDEUTEN HEUTIGE VERKEHRS- UND ENERGIEFRAGEN FUER WOHNUNGSWESEN UND STADTPLANUNG?
It is shown how car traffic intrudes into town planning design: wide expansion, high development costs and danger from noise and exhaust gases; residential roads, garden cities with paths and pedestrian roads make a quality of life possible which avoids the need for the weekend stampede from the cities by car. Effective energy savings can also be effective from architectural measures, which are to be found in the natural environment as well as long established design principles from the past (which have been unfortunately forgotten in recent times). In the series of examples the effect of planning and construction on energy savings is demonstrated. (TRRL)
