Effect of Stimulus of Light-Emitting Devices Focusing on the Characteristics of the Drivers

This research considers measures to control speeding and slowing of cars driving. In 2011, we controlled the driver’s sense of speed and other conditions by installing light-emitting devices along the shoulder of an expressway at a certain interval and controlling the patterns of light emitted. However, evaluations about the attributes of the driver (such as gender, age, driving career) were not enough. The authors carried out this research to confirm the effects of the classifications "gender", "age", "driving frequency" and "individual driver characteristics". The authors were able to confirm differences in the effects of stimulation by light by not only gender, age and the driving frequency but also the driving characteristics.
