URBANIZACION Y MOTORIZACION EN MEXICO

En este documento abordamos un problema que es consecuencia del desarrollo economico y social de Mexico: una creciente urbanizacion y una dependencia tambien creciente de medios de transporte motorizados (principalmente el automovil). Las implicaciones economicas y ambientales resultan muy preocupantes por cuanto representan una situacion que ya dificilmente podria ser aceptable. Asi, el objetivo especifico del presente reporte de investigacion es el de analizar los procesos de urbanizacion y motorizacion en Mexico, planteando las probables implicaciones socio-economicas y ambientales. Deberia parecer obvio que el diseno de politicas publicas nacionales necesarias para un transporte eficiente tendria que contar, primeramente, con un diagnostico fundamentado de resultados de la forma en que se ha desarrollado el proceso de urbanizacion y motorizacion de la actividad socio-economica de la poblacion mexicana, desde el siglo pasado. Se incluyen conclusiones, recomendaciones, cuadros estadisticos y figuras. Abstract: In this paper we analyze a problem that is consequence of social and economic development of Mexico: an increasing urbanization of the human activity and dependence, also increasing, of motorized transport (mainly automobile). This has a variety of economic and environmental implications that are very disturbing because they represent a situation could be hardly acceptable. Therefore, a particular objective of the current research report study is the analysis of urbanization and motorization processes in Mexico, with emphasis in its socioeconomic and environmental implications. Thus, we wish to contribute to definition of public policies needed for a sustainable and efficient urban transport. However, it would be obvious that (before the task of public policies design) we really need to have a diagnosis based on reliable data about facts and characteristics of urbanization and motorization processes of the Mexican socioeconomic activities during the last century. Included conclusions, recommendations, figures and statistical tables.
