EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON DIRECT INJECTION SUPERCHARGED DIESEL ENGINE FOR LOCOMOTIVE
The influence of various operative factors on combustion of the direct injection supercharged Diesel engine were investigated by the single cylinder test engine of the same dimensions with the DML61 series Diesel engine for JNR locomotives. As the primary result of the investigation, brake mean effective pressure of 18.5 kg/cm2 was obtained under the condition of compression ratio 11.2, boost pressure 2.3 kg/cm2, engine speed 1500 rpm, the peak cylinder pressure 108 kg/cm2 and cylinder head temperature 310 degrees c. These characteristics were compared with the precombustion chamber type Diesel engine in respect of the thermal load and the performance.
