Creating Research Hypotheses and Defining Measurements for FOT Evaluation
Field Operational Test (FOT) evaluation in EU-project DRIVE C2X is going to cover impacts of cooperative functions on travel and driver behavior, traffic safety, efficiency, environment and mobility. Evaluation starts with the definition of research questions, hypotheses, indicators and measurements. The data collection and analyses of data will be based on these decisions made in the early phase of the project. Creation of hypotheses has the function descriptions as its starting point - on the other hand research hypotheses must be consistent with the general knowledge and theoretical understanding of the respective impact assessment areas. In DRIVE C2X a specific tool was developed to handle the research hypotheses definition and measurement generation in a systematic manner. This paper describes the approach and tool developed.
