Trouble shooting power steering systems

The diagnosis of power steering faults such as lack of or uneven assistance, noise, leaks, etc, is a simple procedure if the correct test equipment is available. However, the accurate diagnosis of such problems as wander, lack of feel, steering bias etc, requires a full understanding of the power steering system as well as the effects of geometry and tyres. The paper attempts to simplify the process of fault finding (A).
