Effective maintenance of roads system: road construction authority practices in rural areas
The effective maintenance of rural highways in Victoria has been based upon the application of a set of community developed maintenance standards through a regular patrol and periodic maintenance system. The effectiveness of the system is dependent upon insistence and support from senior management of the maintenance standards, upon the clear definition of the task and good management by the maintenance worker in charge and by a program of regular resealing, major patching and surface regulation to support the patrol task (a).
