TOWARDS A WORLD-CLASS PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM FOR MALAYSIA

In the mid-1990s, Malaysia invested heavily in public transport infrastructure. Despite this, public transport modal share dropped from 34% to 20%. To change this, the local Government has included public transport transformation as one of its six National Key Result Areas (NKRA) under the Government Transformation Plan (GTP). The NKRA aims to increase public transport in the Klang Valley to 25% in 2012 (from 12% in 2009) and then to 40% in 2015
