Redefining the Paths to ITS Standards Training
This is the abstract of a longer paper that describes the new USDOT ITS Standards Training Program. This training program was developed because previous training was not meeting the identified needs especially in terms of how to acquire and test devices that use ITS Standards. Additionally, this training addresses participants’ needs for online modular training available as needed. Finally, many ITS Standards have been developed or are under development using the Systems Engineering Process (SEP). The new training program will encompass all ITS Standards. It will be easier to train people to acquire and test ITS Standards developed with the Systems Engineering process. Non-SEP ITS Standards will require additional core training.
